4/15/12: Camp The Board Game Review

Looking for a great way to experience the outdoors when the weather doesn't cooperate?  Here is a cool board game called Camp by Education Outdoors that you can play with your kids ages 4 and up that allows kids to learn cool facts about the great outdoors and have fun while doing it.
The nice thing about this game is it has 4 levels of questions so it applies to younger children and to adults.  This way the game is fun for all ages to play together.  My 4 and 6 year old enjoyed it along with me and my husband.
They give you this cool little decoder that shows what the right answer is.  I have never seen this before and liked the idea.
It is good for your kids to practice reading as when they land in the camp clubhouse and get to read a fun fact aloud.  The directions for the game are simple to follow.  Basically if you land on green footprints the player gets a question to answer, if you land on the white footprints you just pass the dice along, and if you land in the camp clubhouse you read a fun fact.
Here is an example of one of the question cards.  As you can see level 1 has a question that a four year old can answer.
The whole family had fun with this game.
It also was a Winner of the Dr. Toy 100 best children's products.
Here it is as it comes packaged.
Here is some more information about the game:
Few experiences help bond a family together more than spending a few days in the outdoors roughing it without the comforts of modern life and technology. But, when you cannot take the time to get away there is a new game from Outdoors Education that brings the feeling of the great outdoors into your living room called Camp.
From the level one Tenderfoot to the level four Nature Enthusiast, Camp is an outdoors trivia game designed to challenge the knowledge of every member of the family. To play, each person chooses their piece and places it on a seat around the campfire. During their turn players draw a card and attempt to answer the trivia question that corresponds with their skill level. If the correct answer is given, the player rolls again. If not, the next player takes a turn as they race around the board to be the first to arrive back in camp.
The Camp game includes: 1 game board, 199 game cards (400 questions, and 99 fun facts), 1 decoder, 8 game characters, 1 die, 16 level cards, and 1 compass card. For more information on the game, including rules, visit www.educationoutdoors.net. Camp board game retails for $24.99 and can be purchased at Amazon, Bass Pro Shops, Cabelas, Books a Million stores and specialty retailers nationwide.
