12/10/11: Fashion Playtes Fun Designing and Modeling!

Lauren was a very lucky girl today.  She got to do what a lot of girls dream about.  She was able to design a dress especially for her online at Fashion Playtes and then model her creation.  If you have someone on your holiday list that is hard to buy for, this could be a wonderful solution.
We were so lucky to be invited to Fashion Playtes through Boston Parent Bloggers.  They treated the girls like royalty.  They all got to go through 4 stations.  One to get their personally created outfit, then to get their hair and makeup done, then on to getting their picture taken and finally an interview.  I loved that Lauren answered that I was her role model.
Here is Lauren having her hair done.
And having her pictures taken.  She was clearly loving this!
This was the design she created online at FashionPlaytes.com in their Design Studio.  She loves purple so she of course needed a purple dress and then was able to chose all of the embellishments.
It is so fun to work with your daughter designing a creation especially for them.  There are so many options of appliques, embellishments, colors, etc.  This is a sample of the website.  You can chose everything and then chose a label to put on their creation with their name.  We put a label on the back of Lauren's dress.
The website is so easy to use for young girls.  Their clothes are geared for about 4-12 years old.  They have dresses, shirts, bottoms, outerwear, loungewear and accessories.  You can even design clothes for your doll to match yours.  Once you are done with your creation you can purchase it, share it with others, or use it on your model in your virtual world.  They are working on many enhancements to the system where girls can earn points for their designs and use it for accessories in their virtual world.  Super cute!
Here is Lauren taking a spin in the Fashion Show.
Here is some video from the Fashion Show.
Each seamstress starts with a base body garment like a t-shirt, tank or jean jacket and then works on adding all the embellishments you chose whether that’s ribbons, rhinestones or ruffles.  Orders are double-checked by their quality team and then handed off for shipping.  Here is Lauren showing me her beautiful creation.  We had to go to a store after the Fashion Show and numerous people complimented her on her pretty dress.  She truly felt like a queen.
Here are all the girls in their creations.

Disclosure:  I was given a gift certificate to Fashion Playtes to create Lauren's outfit.  No other compensation was received and all opinions are my own.

Great post! You've done a lovely job of showcasing the company.

It was great to meet you yesterday, too!

I love this idea. The fact that she clearly felt so great about the experience makes it totally worth it. I can't wait for Coraline to be a little older so we can do this , although it might be funny to see what a 2 year old creates.
